Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: Ryan Kesler remains the Penguins top target. The Penguins are feeling that the Flyers and Blackhawks are gaining interest in Kesler as well. If the Canucks don’t move Kesler at the deadline, the Penguins could still circle back in the offseason. GM Ray Shero wants to make a hockey deal to address their third line scoring and toughness. Shero has ownership’s backing to go all-in for Kesler because he has two remaining years on his contract. The Penguins want to keep Derrick Pouliot and Scott Harrington and give up draft picks instead. That could obviously change. A deal could also expand to include more players. The Penguins are also watching the Matt Moulson situation and could fall back to it if they feel they are going to lose out on Kesler, or if the Canucks plan to keep him. The Penguins won’t overpay for a rental. The Penguins are interested in Andrew MacDonald. Upgrading their blueline is their second priority after Kesler. The Pens maybe okay with adding a rental on the blueline. The Penguins have sent pro scout Don Waddell to watch the past couple NJ Devils games. The Devils have three pending free agents on the blueline: Marek Zidlicky, Mark Fayne and Eric Gelinas (RFA) Edit: Načo Andrew MacDonald ? Tak potom už stiahnite aj Dubnyka z "waiver" |

Craig Custance of ESPN: (mailbag) The return for Thomas Vanek could be a first round pick (preferably 2015), another pick and a solid prospect. Andrew MacDonald’s trade value increased by Dan Girardi re-signing with the Rangers. Starting point will be a first round pick for MacDonald. He’d be better suited as a No. 4 on a contender. Lubomir Visnovsky has a no-movement clause and Evgeni Nabokov has little trade value. Custance would like to see Garth Snow go after a goalie, maybe Michal Neuvirth from Washington. |

Jeff Simmons of Sportsnet: Brian Lawton said that Martin St. Louis asked to be traded to the Rangers in 2009. “I can tell you when I was in Tampa there was time in 2009 right before the trade deadline when (St. Louis) was waiting in my office for me,” Lawton said. “He told me he was not happy with the way things were going and would like to be traded to one team – the New York Rangers.” Back in 2009, Lawton thought there might have been some tampering going on. “I had my suspicions at the time that some of the people that were from Tampa Bay prior and then working for the Rangers were contacting (St. Louis) about the possibility of coming to play there,” said Lawton. “Our team was not doing well at that time. I immediately felt that was the issue. I made a couple of phone calls and had a couple of meetings with Marty about how important he is to the organization and eventually everything worked out rather quickly.” |

David Pagnotta: “With all the Seattle buzz lately, Quebec City chatter has been fairly quiet… But I can tell you this the NHL is in talks with Quebecor, who wants to bring a team back to QC, and is building their new arena, operational Sept 2015. A deal is far from done, but return of the Nordiques is going to happen. Just a matter of when. Quebecor’s goal is obviously 2015-16 season. NHL has zero plans to relocate any of its franchises… If/when Quebec City (and/or Seattle) gets a team, it’s by way of expansion.” |

Scott Burnside of ESPN: 10 players who could be traded and a guess as to what will end up happening with them. 1. Martin St. Louis: “St. Louis remains a Bolt until at least the draft.”2. Ryan Kesler: “Kesler stays in Vancouver, for the time being.” 3. Ryan Miller: “Miller in a Bluenote jersey strikes the right chord for us.” 4. Thomas Vanek: “Vanek is a King by week’s end.” 5. Ryan Callahan: “Yes, he stands as a straight rental and there are suggestions the Buffalo Sabres will push hard to sign Callahan come July (he’s from nearby Rochester), but a long run in the sun this spring could change all that, no?” 6. Matt Moulson: “Moulson joins the Penguins’ mighty arsenal.” 7. Mike Cammalleri: “If the Bolts move Martin St. Louis, would Cammalleri be a nice fit with Steven Stamkos? Yes.” 8. Ales Hemsky: “Hemsky had a nice Olympic tournament with three goals and an assist in five games, and a change of scenery could make him a nice deadline steal, assuming the Oilers don’t price themselves out of the marketplace.” 9. David Legwand: “Detroit. And there would also be a chance for the Wings to keep Legwand beyond this season at a modest salary given his connection to the community.” 10. Martin Brodeur: “And what about Chicago, which rode Corey Crawford all the way to the Stanley Cup last spring but had Ray Emery as a Plan B? Not sure Antti Raanta is the same kind of safety net yet, so perhaps Brodeur would fit.” |

Catsfan: George Richards of the Miami Herald: The Panthers don’t plan on having a big fire sale. “We’re going to do what’s best for the Panthers to build a championship team,” Tallon said during the recent Olympic break. “We’re not blowing this thing up. If we can sell some assets to get better, we’ll do that. It depends what happens in the next few weeks. We’ll be aggressive either way.” Interim head coach is hoping Tallon doesn’t trade his key players for draft picks. “I don’t really want any draft picks. They don’t do me any good,” Horachek said. “I want to win these games, I want the guys to care about winning these games. I want the guys to put it on the line whether we have an opportunity or mathematically out. I want to make sure we care about winning these games.” |

Rob Rossi: Penguins GM Ray Shero: ’At this point, adding any NHL defensemen for any team is going to be difficult.’ Dave Molinari: Shero added that he is “comfortable” with their blueline despite missing Kris Letang and Paul Martin. Josh Yohe: Pegnuins GM Ray Shero on bringing in a winger for Sidney Crosby: ”It’s probably far-fetched.” Shero mentioned that their cap situation and the lack of sellers is a problem. |
