Brett Cyrgalis of the NY Post: After signing Jaroslav Halak to a four year deal, Islanders GM Garth Snow said that talks between the Islanders and Evgeni Nabokov are “still ongoing.” The Islanders will keep the 5th overall pick this year and will send the Sabres their 2015 1st round pick as part of the Thomas Vanek-Matt Moulson trade. Snow is open to trading the 5th pick.
“Absolutely. We’re open to any deal that might make the team better. If that’s trading the pick for a player, standing pat and picking a quality player at No. 5, or trading it to move up or down, we’re open.”

Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen: The asking price for Jason Spezza will likely be a player, prospect and a top pick. Spezza has a list of 10 teams that he can’t be traded too. The Maple Leafs could be interested, but there is little chance they’d trade him to their divisional rival. Options for Spezza could be:
1. Blues – Sens could be interested in Patrik Berglund and Ian Cole.

2. Predators – the Sens could be interested Filip Forsberg and Colin Wilson.

3. Ducks – the Sens could be interested in Andrew Cogliano and Nick Bonino.

Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: Wild GM Chuck Fletcher’s top priority this offseason will be to figure out his goaltending situation for next season. At points this past season, Niklas Backstrom, Josh Harding, Darcy Kuemper and Ilya Bryzgalov were all used as their No. 1 goalie. Backstrom has two years left at $3.5 million per season. The Wild would still be on the hook for his deal if he retired. Harding has not thought of retiring due to his health concerns. Kuemper is a RFA and will be looking for one-way deal. Bryzgalov is a UFA. Thomas Vanek speculation will continue. Would GM Chuck Fletcher consider trading Mikko Koivu?
